‘Nilgiris A Shared Wilderness’, a film by Sandesh Kadur and Executive Producer Rohini Nilekani, set in the Nilgiri Biosphere where humans and wildlife live side by side, has so far had a profound impact on audiences across India. By highlighting real stories of coexistence between the local communities and the diverse species that call the Nilgiris home, the film challenges common narratives of human-animal conflict and instead places emphasis on a story of resilience, and mutual respect.

Beyond raising awareness, the film is also playing a crucial role in conservation education. We have screened the film in many schools across the Nilgiris hoping to inspire the youth as well as spark discussions about sustainable living and ecological responsibility. For our viewers it is both an eye opener and a call to action to encourage responsible wildlife tourism and support for local conservation efforts.
Since the release of the film, we have also received widespread support from conservationists, educators, and other filmmakers. It has been featured in several international environmental film festivals winning awards for showcasing the challenges and the success stories that come with coexistence. Through the use of stunning cinematography and authentic storytelling we hope that the film continues to inspire and become a tool for meaningful change.
